Pioneer Trek 2015

Welcome!

Trek 2015 is going to be a defining moment in our lives! Elder Neal A. Maxwell said, “Defining moments are preceded by preparatory moments.” It is going to take preparation and a great attitude in order for it to make a mark on our hearts and strengthen our testimonies. We have wonderful youth in our stake and we know we will all pull together to make this a memorable experience.

Testimonies will be strengthened! We will be humbled and draw closer to our Savior. Pres. Gordon B. Hinckley said, “The Mormon Pioneer Trail is ‘a trail of tragedy, a trail of faith, a trail of devotion, a trail of consecration, even the consecration of life itself.’ May…generations yet to come, who, like we, bow their heads in reverent remembrances of our forebears who paid so costly a price for the faith which they carried in their hearts.” As we learn and pay respect to those who have gone before, we will be strengthened and be better equipped to work through the trials we will face during our journey of life.

Why Trek?

We trek to gain understanding and appreciation for our pioneer forefathers. We trek to draw closer to our Heavenly Father and his son, Jesus Christ. We trek to learn that we can and will do hard things in our lives. We trek to have fun! We pray that you will trek too.

Pre-Trek Activities

Activities before and during trek will highlight the gospel principles courage, perseverance, and sacrifice the pioneers exhibited in their lives.

Elder Dallin H. Oaks counseled:

“It is not enough to study or reenact the accomplishments of our pioneers. We need to identify the great, eternal principles they applied to achieve all they achieved for our benefit and then apply those principles to the challenges of our day. In that way we honor their pioneering efforts, and we also reaffirm our heritage and strengthen its capacity to bless our own posterity and those millions of our Heavenly Father's children who have yet to hear and accept the gospel of Jesus Christ. We are all pioneers in doing so.”

We encourage you to study church history and your own family history and become familiar with the stories of the pioneers. Use family night, mutual activities, and Sunday lessons to prepare. As you study you will come to understand how courage, perseverance, and sacrifice are eternal principles that will bring you closer to our Heavenly Father and to his son Jesus Christ.

We hope that you will prepare, commit, and dedicate yourself to participate in this activity. May the Lord bless you for choosing to "embark in the service of God".  In doing so, you WILL stand blameless before God at the last day.
