TREK PREPARATION SCHEDULE
How will you
embark?
FEBRUARY-SERVICE
Now that the
mutual theme is about service this year - what are you going to do? The Lord
has asked you to serve Him with all your heart, might, mind, and strength.
Receive personal revelation as you ask the Lord to guide you to be an
instrument in His hands.
MARCH-CLOTHING
Each person going
on the trek will need to wear pioneer clothing. There will be 2 clothing
specialist for each ward to help you accomplish this large task. They will work
directly with the Trek Clothing Committee
APRIL-HISTORY
APRIL-HISTORY
"We each can
learn much from our early pioneer ancestors, whose struggles and heartaches
were met with resolute courage and an abiding faith in a living God." -
President Thomas S. Monson
Find an ancestor
pioneer that you will walk for during trek. Research their past, collect
information and gain greater understanding for what motivated them to make the
trek west.
MAY - PHYSICAL FITNESS
Training your body
not only helps to prepare you for a long trek physically, but it also helps to
prepare your spirit. On the back you will find a very basic fitness program
anyone can do to prepare for trek.
JUNE - FINAL CHECK
"If ye are
prepared ye shall not fear." D&C 38:30
Pioneer Faith is
needed as much in the world today as in any period of time." - Elder L.
Tom Perry
"What about
our time? Are there pioneering experiences for us? Will future generations
reflect with gratitude on our efforts, our examples? You young people can
indeed be pioneers in courage, in faith, in charity, in determination. You can
strengthen one another; you have the capacity to notice the unnoticed. When you
have eyes to see, ears to hear, and hearts to feel, you can reach out and
rescue others of your age." - President Thomas S. Monson
